Legend has it that when Lord Vishnu severed Maa Sati’s body in 51 parts to end Lord Shiva’s dance of cosmic destruction, the parts got scattered over different places in India. Considered one of the most important among 51 shaktipeethas, it is believed the head of Goddess Shakti fell at Chintpurni.
